The Battle for Yes
Stay alert and pray so you do not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.

I said, “I will follow. I’ll go where you send.”
But my will had a wobble that bent at the end.
For the spirit said yes, but the flesh was saying no,
So I wrestled inside where the deep feelings flow.
In a garden of sorrow, with my tears falling to the ground,
I passionately prayed, not just words, but yielding profound.
“Not my will,” I said, knowing the pain would be severe—
And surrender grew stronger, past the struggle and fear.
Peter once said, “I’ll stand strong. I’d die for you.”
Until the test came, and he learned what was true.
There are parts of our being that aren’t fully clear,
Until the fiery trial reveals what we’re holding dear.
It’s easy to promise with words thrown into the air,
But obedience considered the cost we must bear.
For surrender is proven when comfort must cease,
And we trade what we want for our Master’s peace.
“I need more faith” is often our heart’s cry,
But that won’t help if we’re not willing to die.
For our claims aren’t valid until our actions agree,
And the proof of our faith is what others can see.
So we pray and keep praying until our wants are still,
Until nothing is more important than our Father’s will.
When the spirit leads strong and the flesh steps aside,
There is power and life more than self can provide.
When trials come knocking, and surely they will,
They will ask, “Who reigns? Yourself? Or God’s will?”
For the leap that we take when we trust and obey,
Is surrender made real in a completely visible way.
